If you’ve always wanted to learn to dive, this is where it starts. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions have learned to dive with this course, and most dive shops around the world recognize this certification for equipment rentals and dive charters. We only offer Open Water Referrals, meaning we do not handle the confined water portion of your certification. You’ll need to work with your local dive shop to complete this before we finish your cerfitication in Hawaii.
An additional $289 will be added to the price if you are not joining an existing course. If another student joins your course, the $289 will be refunded back to you on your first dive day. If you prefer to have a private course, please let the reservations team know when you call to book and they’ll ensure no other students are added to your course.
prerequisites
- 10 years old, and in reasonable physical health.
- Completed PADI Medical Statement.
- Ability to swim and float unassisted in the ocean.
- Understand and speak English (for safety reasons).
OPEN WATER DIVES
After you have mastered the skills in confined water, it’s time to take your skills to the open ocean!
Open water dive one introduces you to the skills you’ll use on all dives, to the experience of exploring underwater, and to the differences between confined water and open water. Open water dive two expands on this, plus you’ll practice some of the skills you mastered in the pool.
Open water dives three and four are checkout dives, where you’ll have the opportunity to review any skills with your instructor.
Once completing these four dives, you’re officially certified! Your certification is good for life, is accepted world-wide, and allows you to move on to more advanced dive training.
Note: 10-14 year old divers receive a Junior Open Water certification.
the equipment
In the Open Water Diver course, you’ll learn how to use basic SCUBA gear including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device, & a tank. You’ll dive high- quality SCUBA gear from our rental inventory. Our course includes all necessary equipment however all students are highly encouraged to buy their own mask, fins & a snorkel.All students will recieve a 10% discount off retail purchases made in our store.
